VLA is proud to present its popular series of free classes targeted to artists, students and practicing attorneys. The classes will be taught by current law school students.
The Right of Publicity impacts a wide variety of disciplines including photography, film and media, literature, visual arts, and more. This class will provide an overview on the Right of Publicity in New York State, and how it relates to freedom of speech. We will explain when an artist can and cannot use the life story, image, name, or likeness of another individual in their work. Throughout the class, we will also provide limited legal comparison to other states and countries.
