As an artist, it is essential for you to understand your rights in your creations, and what to do if you believe those rights have been violated. This class is a practical discussion of the fundamentals of copyright for creatives. We will discuss the basics of copyright law, what it does and does not cover, and steps you can take to help prevent copyright infringement of your work. Taught by VLA Executive Director Katie Wagner, this class will include a portion for Q&A.

Katie Wagner is the Executive Director of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA). She is responsible for developing VLA’s legal services, education, and advocacy programming, and facilitating pro bono legal representation for hundreds of artists and arts and cultural organizations in need each year.
