Zachary Bass

Zachary Bass is currently at the Media, Entertainment, and IP team at Davis Wright Tremaine. Previously, Zachary was an intellectual property litigation associate at Winston & Strawn LLP, where his practice focuses on patent, copyright, and trademark disputes in the telecommunication and entertainment industries.  He formerly clerked for the Hon. Sherilyn Garnett of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California and the Hon. Andre B. Mathis of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Zachary graduated from New York University School of Law where he was Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Journal of Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law and winner of the 2021 Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for his authoring of Locast and The Legislative History of 17 U.S.C. § 111(a)(5).  Prior to his legal career, Zachary assisted in the engineering and manufacturing of theme park attractions for Disney and Universal Studios in Central Florida and was recognized on the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s “40 Under 40.”

He is excited to further VLA’s mission—an organization he has worked with since his first year of practice!
