
Matthew Windman is an attorney at McCarter & English, LLP, where he focuses on labor and employment matters, including employment agreements and handbooks, wage and hour compliance, organized labor, federal and state regulations, discrimination, and breaches of contract. He also works on matters involving entertainment law, capital markets, nonprofits, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation.
He has presented CLE seminars for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts on legal issues in theater and the performing arts such as copyright and fair use, producing commercial theater, and COVID-19. He has also presented classes built around the careers and Broadway musicals of Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Matthew has written about theater for the newspaper amNewYork since 2004 and is a member of the New York Drama Critics Circle and Drama Desk Association. In 2016, his book The Critics Say…57 Theater Reviewers in New York and Beyond Discuss Their Craft and Its Future was published by McFarland.
