Emma is an Attorney and VLA’s Legal Services Coordinator. She consults with artists on a range of legal issues and manages all aspects of client intake.
Prior to joining VLA, Emma worked in special projects litigation in Sydney, Australia. She received her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Sydney. Emma was awarded First Class Honors for her undergraduate thesis in art history, Bernhard Heisig: Painting in East Germany (1945-1990), for which Emma translated all primary source material from the original German. During law school, Emma was an Aurora Fellow and Editor of the Sydney University Social Justice Journal. Additionally, she has completed a Short Course in Film Production at the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS), Australia’s national screen arts and broadcast school.
Emma is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Member, Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section) and is admitted to practice law in New York and New South Wales, Australia. Emma was a Producer with the Australian International Screen Forum in New York, and she has worked with both the Tribeca Film Festival and IFP Film Week. Before relocating to New York, Emma performed Carmina Burana with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs at the Sydney Opera House.
