Emma is VLA’s Staff Attorney. In this role, she is responsible for reviewing submissions from artists requesting legal assistance, and coordinating the placement of clients with pro bono attorneys. Prior to joining VLA, Emma worked in a national litigation practice in Sydney, Australia. She received her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Sydney, and she was awarded First Class Honors for her undergraduate thesis, Bernhard Heisig: Painting in East Germany (1945-1990), for which she translated all primary source material from the original German. Emma has a strong interest in film production, and she has worked with both the Tribeca Film Festival and IFP Film Week (now, The Gotham). Before relocating to New York, Emma performed Carmina Burana with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs at the Sydney Opera House.
