Brittney C. Cox is an Associate of Davis+Gilbert LLP. She was formerly the Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Atlantic Records and Elektra Music Group, divisions of Warner Music Group. Prior to that position, Ms. Cox was a corporate associate in the New York office of Sidley Austin LLP. Ms. Cox has transactional and litigation experience and has represented clients concerning a broad range of commercial, intellectual property, and media and entertainment related matters. She also maintains an active pro-bono practice.
In addition to serving on the Associate Board of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Ms. Cox is an active member in a number of professional associations including the New York City Bar Association, Black Entertainment and Sports Law Association, Metropolitan Black Bar Association, Women In Music and Music Business Association.
She is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Ms. Cox has dedicated herself to raising awareness and partnering with organizations on efforts related to LGBTQIA+, minority, women and intersectionality issues. She has served as a mentor for the Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep Program and interned with Lambda Legal. She has been a speaker on these topics at Harvard Law, Color of Music Collective and Lavender Law.
As a former musician, Ms. Cox is deeply passionate about music and the arts, and spends as much time as she can listening to music, attending live shows and art galleries.
Ms. Cox graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University, with a B.A. in government and politics. She earned her J.D. from Cornell Law in 2017. Ms. Cox is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
