Planning Your Long-Term Care: Medicare and Medicaid for Artists

VLA invites you to join us for a unique and informative discussion focused on helping artists, particularly senior artists, understand the complex Medicare and Medicaid programs as they plan and navigate their long-term care needs.

In this program, Britt Burner, Esq. of the Burner Law Group and Tanya Kessler of Mobilization for Justice will go over common questions and issues and cover topics that include eligibility requirements for Medicare and Medicaid, long-term care services, and the Medicaid application process. There will also be time allocated for questions and answers from the audience.

Planning for your future and long-term care needs can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be!

Tanya Kessler, Esq. of Mobilization for Justice
Tanya Kessler is a staff attorney at Mobilization for Justice (formerly known as MFY Legal Services) where she works on the Disability and Aging Rights Project (DARP).  DARP provides legal assistance and representation to residents of adult homes and nursing homes in disability rights issues, and to people with disabilities seeking Access-a-Ride services.  She formerly worked on the Three-quarter House Project at MFJ, which she started as a Skadden Fellow, after graduating from CUNY Law School.

Britt Burner, Esq. of the Burner Law Group, P.C.
Britt Burner is an attorney at Burner Law Group, P.C. focusing her practice on Elder Law and Estate Planning and is the driving force behind the firm’s Manhattan office. For four consecutive years, Britt has been named as a Rising Star Attorney by Super Lawyers Magazine.

She is the Chair of the New York City Bar Association Committee on the Legal Problems of the Aging and is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Elder Law and Special Needs Planning section as Vice-Chair of the Legislation Committee.
