Protecting Your Persona: New York Right of Publicity

The right of publicity is every individual’s inherent right to control the commercial use of their persona. Right of publicity laws vary in each state, with New York having some of the strongest protections. This class will give an overview of the right of publicity laws in New York, discuss recent legal and industry developments, and what considerations should be made when making creative works that include someone’s name, image, and likeness.
