Legal Considerations for Influencers

May 22 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This class provides essential guidance on navigating the legal aspects of influencer marketing. Covering FTC rules on disclosure, participants explore sample brand deal contracts focusing on key clauses like usage rights and compensation. The course also highlights pitfalls of copyright infringement and the benefits of trademark registration for protecting social media handles. By understanding these legal nuances, influencers can operate ethically and protect their brand identities effectively in the digital landscape.

  • Brand Deals: FTC rules on proper disclosure of paid partnerships, sponsorships, and promotions.
  • Sample Brand Deal Contract: We’ll review a contract, and focus on the most negotiated clauses such as usage, approvals, compensation and exclusivity
  • Copyright infringement: Pitfalls around using third party copyrighted content on social media without the owner’s permission.
  • Trademarks: why register and when to register your social media handle, for example?

* Sample brand deal contract will be provided.
