When: Monday, October 22nd, 5 – 6:30 PM
Where: VLA, 1 East 53rd Street, New York, NY 10022
Description:
Are you a visual artist wondering if and when you can incorporate copyrighted material into your artwork? There are certain circumstances where the limited, “fair use” of copyrighted material may be permitted. Join us on October 22nd as we delve into important copyright issues such as infringement, the fair use defense, and other related topics.
This class is the second workshop of VLA’s Workshop Series: Legal and Business Issues in Art, which is aimed at providing artists and attorneys with fundamental and practical knowledge of key areas in art law. Through understanding principles of copyright and contract law, you’ll be better equipped to understand the marketplace value of your work and make a living doing what you love.
This class is taught by VLA’s Executive Director Katie Wagner.
After this class, we hope you will join us for Part III of the Workshop Series License It, where we will discuss issues related to licensing creative work.
