Laura Goldbard George concentrates in trademark, copyright and unfair competition law, with particular expertise in consumer product-related matters. With her extensive litigation experience in the U.S. courts and abroad, as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Ms. George routinely represents plaintiffs and defendants in the clothing, luggage, jewelry, health and beauty aid, food/beverages, snuff and other tobacco products, gasoline and lubricant products, publishing, textile, and family entertainment industries. She also provides similar counsel to financial institutions. Not only has Ms. George obtained favorable resolutions and decisions in court actions involving trademark infringement, copyright infringement and design patent infringement, but also has obtained favorable decisions from the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Ms. George manages the trademark and copyright portfolios of many clients. This includes advising, negotiating, and drafting their licensing and merger and acquisition documents, performing due diligence, prosecuting their intellectual property rights in both domestic and international forums, and providing general counsel. Ms. George routinely prepares and negotiates various license agreements involving trademarks both for licensors and licensees. She frequently counsels debtors in bankruptcy and regularly advises parties to securitizations, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions regarding their intellectual property interests.
