Full-Time Office Manager

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Office Manager provides administrative support for the day-to-day activities of the organization and assists the Executive Director. The Office Manager is responsible for all bookkeeping and related tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliation of accounts, and maintenance of paper and electronic financial records and reporting. The Office Manager will maintain office systems and perform other general office administration. The Office Manager will assist the Executive Director in human resource record keeping, payroll, and benefits matters. The Office Manager will also assist with the administration of VLA’s education programming and fundraising. The position requires interacting on a regular basis with VLA’s Board of Directors, artist members, volunteer attorneys, and student externs. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and a team player. This is a great opportunity for someone who has worked in nonprofit administration and finance or project management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years or more previous experience in nonprofit administration or project management preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently, self-direct, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a detail-oriented and well-organized manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with a diverse constituency of artists, lawyers, law firms, and public interest and community groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with constituents, vendors and suppliers by phone, email, and letters.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information discretely and professionally.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

VLA offers attractive compensation (salary range of $60-70,000, based on experience) and generous benefits including paid vacation, sick leave, health, dental and vision insurance, long-term disability, unlimited monthly metrocards, and ability to participate in 403(b) retirement and flexible spending plans.
