MediateArt: Mediation & Negotiation Training Program (Continuing Legal Education)

November 28, 2018 @ 10:00 am - November 29, 2018 @ 6:00 pm

Blue figure in the middle between red and yellow groups. Meditation, leadership, diversity, unification concept.

Learn to be a Mediator with MediateArt and VLA! Attorneys earn up to 16 CLE credit hours.

MediateArt™ is VLA’s alternative dispute resolution, contract negotiation, and negotiation counseling program. A vital program since 1998, MediateArt offers members of the arts community an alternative, non-litigious setting in which to resolve their arts-related disputes, with the assistance of neutral, VLA-trained mediators.

VLA’s MediateArt Training Program is a two-day intensive workshop of basic mediation training for attorneys, artists, arts administrators, and other professionals with an interest or background in the arts.

Participants will learn effective mediation skills, particularly as they relate to art-related issues, through observing mock-mediations, engaging in mediation simulations, and receiving feedback from program faculty. The workshop will focus on “deal mediation” negotiation, facilitative leadership skills, and resolution of disputes without resorting to litigation.

Following completion of the program, participants will be eligible to take part as mediators in VLA’s MediateArt Program, as matters arise.

For more information on mediation as a form of alternative dispute resolution, and on VLA’s particular MediateArt model, please see our FAQ page here.

This program is taught by Alida Camp, a full-time mediator/arbitrator. Read more about her below.

*CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION CREDIT:  Attorneys attending this mediation training program may be eligible for up to 16 CLE credit hours. (8 Areas of Professional Practice, 6 Skills Credits, and 2 Ethics Credits). To receive CLE for this training, both sessions must be attended. This program is “transitional” and thus newly admitted attorneys are qualified to receive CLE as well. Course materials will be emailed in advance of the program in e-book format.
