Performing Rights Organizations 101

VLA is proud to present its popular Legal & Business Issues in Art Series of free classes targeted to artists and individuals interested in the arts. The classes will be taught by our current Law School Student Interns as part of their work at VLA, and supervised by VLA staff.

Performing Rights Organizations 101

This class will provide an overview of what performing rights organizations are and their role in the music industry. We will cover when and why a songwriter might want to join a PRO, when and why a business might obtain a license from a PROs, and current issues that are of immense importance to PROs like fractional licensing vs. 100% licensing.
